Data Pipeline Developer 3D Printing Internship en Barcelona

HP Barcelona site has the charter for the development of leading-edge 3D printers for a broad range of markets and needs worldwide. In this context, we look for a proactive, hands-on and technically solid person with genuine interest in technology and innovation. She/he will be integrated in a multidisciplinary team within the R&D department dedicated to the 3D printing models processing in 3D printers. The position provides an exciting opportunity for an engineering student interested in starting his professional career in a high-tech, international environment, in an area full of exciting learning and innovation possibilities.

Objective

Collaborate in the design and implementation of a host application (Linux and Windows) to execute the end to end 3D printing pipeline that it is currently part of the printer firmware (FW).

The application has to generate the sliced 2D printable raster images (PNG, TIF) from the input 3D geometry (3MF, VTK…).

Main tasks

• Analyze and identify the FW pipeline blocks for the current 3D front-end and back-end pipeline.
• Understand the dependencies with the FW development environment and identify alternatives to build it in a host environment.
• Develop a python framework, where 3D pipeline components can be compiled and executed offline, and on top of which tools for prototyping enabling R&D investigations can be easily built.
• Define and execute a performance analysis of the data pipeline and identify technologies that can help accelerate it via HW (GPU).

Requirements:

• Currently in Computer Science or related Bachelor’s or Master’s.
• Good understanding & strong skills in C++/Python coding language and Linux and Windows O.S.
• Strong analytical capacities
• Teamwork skills
• Self-organization and responsibility
• Flexibility, adaptability and capacity to operate in a very dynamic environment
• Fluency in English
