Reinventing a world-class experience design for 3D printing is essential to achieving this exciting vision. 

We are seeking a Site Design Lead to join our growing global design team in Barcelona, Spain to lead the experience design of HP 3D printing software applications, services, and interface design. This role will be the local leadership voice of 3D Print design, and will be a trusted partner with Barcelona 3D management, engineering and marketing.  Reporting to the US-based Design Director, the role will take direction from the Digital UX Lead in US, and work to deliver on programs while contributing to strategic direction.

In this position, you will drive customer-centered design processes to ensure design and innovations are based on stated and unstated customer needs.  You will build trusting and influential relationships with the 3D business and R&D teams.   And you will use your exceptional design skills and experience to define and deliver truly transformational customer experiences. 

Our ideal candidate will have broad design capabilities. Required skills include a strong command of research methods and experience frameworks, and demonstrated talent to convert observations and trends into valuable and actionable user insights.  You must be able to lead and collaborate across both physical and digital design disciplines to define, specify, and prototype groundbreaking experiences.  And via your partnering skills with development partners, you will generate empathy for users and advocate for the customer to see your design intent be realized in production. 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that customer needs are understood and well-socialized for our 3D business partners, and usable by design and marketing across the business.  Synthesize customer observations and data into actionable insights, translate into design goals, and validate to ensure goals are met.
  • Facilitates creative workshops with marketing, engineering including design sprints, storymapping, and customer journey creation.
  • Ensures design alignment with HP and 3D brand guidelines and translates strategic design direction into tactical program deliverables.
  • Partner with Design Director and Design Operations to ensure appropriate budgeting and and resources for anticipated work.
  • Establish, maintain a pool of research providers including recruiting, facilities, facilitation that are efficient and cost-effective.
  • Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with user experience design and development guidelines and standards; provide tangible feedback to improve product quality and user experience.
  • Motivate the design team, and remove barriers to success and foster creativity across the organization.

  • Ability to effectively communicate user experience data, design proposals and product specifications, and negotiate options at senior management levels.

  • Ability to collaborate across functions and leverage the capability of the organization to drive change and achieve stated/documented goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills; working effectively across cultures and time-zones

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, Social Sciences research, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6-10 years’ experience developing user experience strategy and designs across a range of connected platforms and devices, software, and services.  Ideally experience in B2B applications or web applications design and development.
  • Proven experience with application of design theories, principles, and concepts to a portfolio of multiple information technology, products and services designs.
  • Broad understanding and experience in designing and implementing research and data collection plans for experience testing and acceptance.
  • Demonstrated command of UX design and collaboration tools such as Sketch and Adobe creative suite.  Self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects.
  • Strongly desired: direct experience in 3D CAD software and/or 3D printing applications as designer or user.
