Job Summary


The Purchasing Specialist ensures that the items and services required to manufacture our IVD Solutions are purchased from specified suppliers and delivered according to agreed terms and conditions. Additionally, this role is responsible for negotiating rates with freight service suppliers and controlling import transit.


Key Accountabilities


  • Runs reports in SAP to help determine purchase requests for expense items. For inventory items, generates purchase orders based on reorder points set in the inventory management system. Periodically reviews reorder points to ensure they are adequate.
  • Creates purchase orders from purchase requisitions.
  • Issues purchase orders to suppliers and confirms that delivery dates, quantities ordered, and prices are correct.
  • Maintains vendor relationships, ensuring best pricing and order preference are received.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Conducts periodic conference calls with suppliers to follow up on ongoing projects.
  • Handles data entry and files paperwork.
  • Maintains procurement records by monitoring deliveries, detecting delays, and resolving issues with vendors to avoid customer backorders.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources to provide information, direction, and/or appropriate referrals.
  • Participates in department meetings, exhibitions, workshops, etc., to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions.
  • Coordinates with the warehouse and planning departments.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection/quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position


• Education:

- Required: Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior in any related field within the supply chain area.

- Desirable: Any degree higher than the minimum requirement stated above.


• Experience:

- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar position.


• Additional Skills & Knowledge:

- Software: Proficiency in Office Tools (Excel & Word). Advanced knowledge of SAP is desirable.

- Languages: Fluency in Spanish or Catalan. Intermediate level of English (reading, writing, and speaking).
