Your role and work environment:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Non-Financial Risk Solutions Specialist (1LoD) to join our Operational Design, Control, Sourcing and Resilience (ODCR) area.

The increasing complexity of the regulatory environment, technological transformation, operational dependencies, and the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence require ING to strengthen its ability not only to identify and remediate risks, but to anticipate, prevent and structurally eliminate them.

Within ODCR, this role will focus on building a more predictive, data-driven and prevention-oriented approach to Non-Financial Risk Management, bridging the gap between risk management, control design, and process design.

The area is pivotal for our success. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment with Business Control, Operational Resilience & Business Continuity, Third Parties Management, Process Management and other key stakeholders to ensure ING remains safe, secure and resilient.

Activities the team members are working on include:

• Implementing and improving risk and control frameworks, methodologies and tooling.
• Identifying and assessing risks and early warning indicators before they become issues.
• Designing preventive controls, structural solutions and scalable improvements embedded into processes.
• Driving root cause analyses on material issues, incidents, audit findings and recurring weaknesses and events.
• Leveraging AI and cut-edge tooling for automation to improve risk identification, monitoring, assurance and reporting.
• Enhancing ING’s risk culture through awareness, constructive challenge and practical guidance.
• Supporting Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, Sourcing and other Non-Financial Risk activities.

The role acts as a strategic sparring partner to Safe & Secure Officers within the business and ensures that and efficient methodology and tooling support their day to day.

Your key responsibilities:

As a Non-Financial Risk Solutions Specialist (1LoD), you will:

• Risk Strategy & Governance: Support the implementation and continuous improvement of ING’s Non-Financial Risk framework, ensuring alignment with ING Group standards, local regulatory requirements, business objectives, customer expectations and legal obligations.
• End-to-End Risk & Control Management: identification, policy implementation, control monitoring, control evaluation, remediation tracking and continuous efficiency improvements.
• Root Cause Analysis & Structural Prevention: differentiating symptoms from structural causes and designing sustainable solutions.
• Operational Resilience, Business Continuity & Third Parties support
• Issue & Event Management: Promote effective end-to-end issue management.
• Ownership, Planning & Capacity: Ensure proper assignment of owners and delegates for Non-Financial Risk processes, support annual planning with Business Control Partners, monitor plan versus execution and escalate dependencies, delays, blockers or capacity risks when required.
• Stakeholder Management & Three Lines of Defence Coordination: Act as an entry point between business teams and specialised risk areas, collaborating with Tribes, Safe & Secure Officers, Business Control Partners, Compliance, Non-Financial Risk, CAS and global stakeholders.
• Risk Culture & Awareness: Promote a healthy and robust risk culture.
• AI & Risk Innovation: Apply Artificial Intelligence techniques and dashboarding to improve and automate risk management activities.

• You have deep knowledge of Non-Financial Risk & Control Management and (desirable) experience in banking products.
• You are analytically strong, detail-oriented and able to break down complex issues and identify relationships.
• You are skilled in root cause analysis and able to distinguish symptoms from structural causes.
• You can translate regulatory and risk requirements into clear business expectations, action plans and implementation activities.
• You are self-starting, critical, persistent and capable of driving improvements.
• You love to challenge the status quo and are eager to propose creative, scalable and preventive solutions to problems, using AI tools.
• You can organise your own work well and work independently as well as collaborate with a team.
• You are able to work with diverse stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
• You have an excellent command of English language, both oral and written and communication and stakeholder management skills.
