About The Team

Based in Madrid, our Marine Design team develops advanced software solutions used by leading shipbuilders and marine engineering organizations around the world.

We are a multidisciplinary group of software engineers and technical specialists who combine strong mathematical, engineering, and visual thinking skills to make Computer‑Aided Design more powerful and intuitive. Innovation is at the core of our work, and we actively contribute to the development of new technologies while protecting our intellectual property through patents and research initiatives.

Project Description

Digital transformation is reshaping the shipbuilding industry. Modern vessels are becoming increasingly complex, requiring advanced digital solutions that enable engineers to design, validate, and manage large‑scale marine projects efficiently.

As an intern, you will contribute to the development and application of engineering software solutions used throughout the marine design process. You will gain exposure to areas such as Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), design automation, geometry processing, software testing, user experience, and engineering workflows.

Working alongside experienced software engineers, naval architects, and technical specialists, you will participate in real projects that support shipbuilders and marine engineering organizations worldwide. Depending on your academic background and interests, you may contribute to software development, engineering design processes, digital workflows, or product innovation initiatives.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking Bachelor's or Master's students in Computer Science, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technologies, Software Engineering, or a related field.

If you enjoy creative problem‑solving across the full software development lifecycle—from requirements and implementation to testing, validation, and customer support—and have strong communication skills, we would love to hear from you.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD modeling or engineering design software
  • Interest in software development, digital engineering, and engineering applications
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding, marine engineering, naval architecture, or related industrial engineering concepts is considered a plus
  • Good proficiency in English
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Motivation to learn and contribute to innovative engineering solutions

SSP Spain 2026–2027: Conditions & Eligibility

The Siemens Strategic Student Program (SSP) in Spain will run from 1 October 2026 until 31 March 2027.

Depending on university requirements and available internship hours, extensions may be considered. Students may also have the opportunity to complete their Bachelor's or Master's thesis in collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries Software.

Compensation

Internships at Siemens Digital Industries Software are paid, and interns receive a monthly internship contribution.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled at a university in Spain.
  • Applicants must have at least 750 internship hours available through their university program.
  • Applicants must remain enrolled at a Spanish university throughout the duration of the internship.
  • Both Spanish and international students are eligible to apply.
  • Curricular and extracurricular internships are accepted, provided the university permits the full six‑month internship period.
  • International students must possess the appropriate visa and/or work authorization. Siemens will not sponsor or facilitate visa or work permit processes.
