Fashion Design Intern

As a fashion design intern at CAREY, you will support the design studio in the creative and technical development of our upcoming collection. You will work closely with the founders and with external partners (fabric mills, pattern makers and manufacturers) across all stages of collection development, with particular focus on pattern-making and technical execution. This role requires solid foundations in design and pattern-making, strong attention to detail, and a sensibility aligned with the brand.


Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of seasonal collections in line with the creative direction set by Reyes Torres.
  • Researching references, trends and materials, contributing to mood boards and seasonal concepts.
  • Producing flat sketches and technical drawings in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Drafting base patterns and assisting with grading under supervision.
  • Building detailed tech packs, including BOM, points of measure and construction notes, for sample-making and production.
  • Participating in fittings and sample revisions, documenting feedback for suppliers.
  • Liaising with fabric mills, trim suppliers and manufacturing partners on day-to-day development.
  • Following the seasonal calendar and supporting on-time delivery of the collection.


Requirements:

  • Ongoing studies or recent graduate in Fashion Design, with a strong focus on pattern-making.
  • Solid foundations in manual and/or digital pattern-making.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design work, technical drawings and patterns developed.
  • Excellent communication in written Spanish; written English at a professional level.
  • Good sketching skills and a clear understanding of proportion, silhouette and construction.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Aesthetic sensibility aligned with the brand and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage tasks, prioritise and meet deadlines in a small team environment.
  • Interest in working directly with mills and manufacturers, from concept through to production.
  • Knowledge of natural fabrics (linen, cupro, modal, voile) and their construction is valued.
  • Knowledge of digital pattern-making software (Optitex, Gerber, Lectra) or 3D simulation (CLO 3D, Browzwear) is a plus.
  • InDesign and spoken English are a plus.


Conditions:

On-site, Barcelona. Duration: 6 months with potential continuation. Part-time paid internship. University or school agreement required.
