Role Overview

SistelGroup is a system integration leader in the life sciences industry, driving digital transformation across industrial automation, IT/OT, and advanced manufacturing systems. We are looking for a motivated AI/ML Intern to join SistelGroup, where we are redefining how industrial automation is engineered for the life sciences industry. Our work goes far beyond improving IT/OT delivery — we are creating new methods to migrate from legacy automation systems to next-generation platforms, and transforming how engineers design, configure, and deploy industrial software.

In this role, you will collaborate with our internal engineering teams to conceptualize and build next-generation accelerator tools that push the boundaries of what’s possible in industrial automation. You will help prototype AI- and ML-powered solutions that automate complex engineering tasks, intelligently interpret industrial data, and enable entirely new ways of developing automation applications. Your work will contribute directly to shaping the future of digitalization and advanced manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities


AI/ML Prototyping & Innovation

  • Develop proof-of-concept ML models for industrial use cases (e.g. Pattern recognition, anomaly detection, predictive insights).
  • Build NLP/LLM-based tools that interpret engineering documents such as tag lists, datasheets, and equipment manuals.
  • Prototype AI agents that assist in generating, validating, or optimizing industrial automation configurations.


Accelerating System Migrations

  • Support the development of tools that analyze, translate, and restructure engineering data from legacy automation systems.
  • Contribute to automated pipelines for onboarding equipment into modern platforms (SCADA, historians, MES, unified name space).
  • Explore AI-driven approaches for modernizing industrial data models and engineering workflows.


Automating Engineering Workflows

  • Create Python-based utilities that reduce repetitive engineering tasks and improve delivery speed.
  • Build intelligent parsers to automatically extract useful information from industrial documentation.
  • Develop automation scripts and APIs to support engineering and software teams.


R&D and Emerging Technology Exploration

  • Research new AI/ML techniques applicable to industrial engineering challenges.
  • Evaluate AI frameworks, open-source tools, and emerging LLM technologies.
  • Document methodologies, tests, and results to support internal innovation efforts.


Required Skills

  • Solid Python programming skills.
  • Understanding of ML principles and practical experience with model development.
  • Exposure to language-processing AI such as LLMs, traditional NLP techniques, or text embeddings used for semantic search and document understanding.
  • Basic understanding of JSON, SQL, REST APIs, and data structuring.
  • Ability to write clean scripts and utilities to automate tasks.


Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with industrial automation concepts (PLC logic, OPC UA, SCADA, historians).
  • Experience with time-series data analysis.
  • Knowledge of cloud basics (Azure, AWS) or Docker containerization.
  • Exposure to software engineering practices (Git, CI/CD fundamentals).
