Montse Codina Coach is recruiting for an international company in the agri-food sector, headquartered in the province of Barcelona, a Plant Pathologist to lead strategic R&D projects focused on developing disease resistance in plants.

Mission of the role

You will join the global R&D team as a researcher in the area of Plant Pathology. This role is key to advancing plant pathology research and providing high-quality support to breeding and biotechnology programs.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and implement methods and protocols for disease resistance testing and pathogen diagnostics (fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes).
• Support pre-breeding and breeding teams in disease monitoring and resistance characterization.
• Collaborate with field teams on the implementation of hygiene and biosecurity protocols.
• Contribute to the short- and long-term plant pathology strategy within the R&D area.
• Build, coordinate, and mentor a team of plant pathology assistants and technicians.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration across R&D teams.

Profile

• PhD or Master’s degree in Plant Pathology, Biotechnology, or related fields.
• Over 3 years of experience in plant pathology, preferably in industrial R&D environments or leading academic institutions.
• Hands-on experience in resistance testing, disease diagnosis, and monitoring.
• Proven experience in project management and team leadership.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Results-oriented professional with a collaborative mindset and focus on process optimization and continuous improvement.
