We are currently seeking an IT Operations Specialist to support our business activities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to  the development and maintenance of a robust and secure IT infrastructure in a dynamic and highly innovative environment. The role is key to ensuring smooth internal operations, supporting our cloud and on-premise platforms, and helping the company scale its technological backbone in alignment with our mission to deliver excellence in bioinformatics.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-IT Support & Administration

• Provide technical support across the company (computer systems, networks, IT equipments,, software and tools).
• Manage user onboarding/offboarding, access control, and IT asset tracking.
• Document IT processes and maintain records of issues and solutions.
• Contribute in compliance documentation when needed and perform reporting.
• Help implement and maintain security measures and protocols.
• Coordinate with external providers for asset acquisition and outsourced support.

-Infrastructure & Systems

• Monitor and maintain computer systems, networks, and IT equipments ensuring functionality and optimal performance.
• Assist the DevOps team in managing and optimizing on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Handle backups and ensure availability of data storage (on-premise/cloud).
• Install and update OS and tools on servers (like Linux, R, R packages, RStudio Server, Conda environment, ecc) ensuring stability and compliance.
• Manage Linux servers, Docker images, and workload managers (e.g., SLURM).
• Apply scripting and minimal coding (Bash, Python, SQL) for automation and troubleshooting.
• Stay updated with the latest trends in IT, network management, and cybersecurity.

REQUIREMENTS

-Minimum academic qualifications: Any certificate in the area of Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology or similar.

-Additional academic requirements: Relevant DevOps or systems administration certifications are positively valued.

-Minimum experience:

• At least 2 years in IT support and/or system administration, including:
• Networking knowledge (routing, switching, DNS, essential protocols).
• Familiarity with high-performance data storage platforms (e.g., Isilon, NAS/SAN systems).
• Experience with monitoring systems for infrastructure and storage.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues (Linux, Windows, macOS, office applications, etc.).
• Experience working with Linux server, Docker containers, and basic orchestration systems (e.g., SLURM).
• Performing system updates, data backups, and recovery (on-premise/cloud).
• Some understanding of basic security measures (antivirus, firewalls, access policies, etc.). 
• Basic scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python), with minimal coding capability for task automation or troubleshooting.
• Nice to have:
• Familiarity with scientific tools: Conda, R packages, RStudio Server.
• Experience using tools like VS Code, Git, monitoring platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).

• Ability to reach the office quickly (max 1h) during remote days, if urgent on-premise IT intervention is needed.
