At ING we are looking for a Legal Counsel for Wholesale Banking

Your role and work environment:

We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel within the Wholesale Banking Legal Team Spain & Portugal.

This position involves assisting the head of the department, team members and internal clients to ensure legal risks in ING’s wholesale transactions are identified and mitigated.

Your key responsibilities:

As a Legal Counsel you will:

Act as an advisor and lawyer to the wholesale banking business, working closely with front office and risk departments in the review and negotiation of financing documentation.

Contribute, advise and support business colleagues across product lines identifying, formulating, coordinating and communicating policies, procedures and controls to ensure that ING’s exposure to legal risk is effectively managed.

Engage external counsel and review external counsel’s advice and documents, acting as link between business teams and external advisors.

Help develop training materials and template documentation and guidance notes.

Closely cooperate with colleagues in the ING network with a clear focus on harmonization and knowledge sharing.

Degree in Law from an accredited institution and qualified to work as lawyer in Spain.

2 to 4 years of relevant experience with a law firm and/or financial institution.

Essential expertise fields: financing agreements (corporate and structured finance). Active experience in negotiating finance documents.

Desirable expertise fields: restructuring, capital markets and international guarantees.

Self-starter with good drafting skills, used to managing transactions to completion and participating in the negotiation of deals to execution.

Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Proven ability to meet stringent deadlines and adapt to changing priorities, operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Fluent English (including drafting financial documents) is a must, other languages will be considered but not essential.

Readiness to face a changing environment and proactive attitude towards new challenges.
