After a couple of years of research and development, Hero Labs is preparing to launch our first commercial product - Sonic, the smartest leak protection system ever created.

Sonic monitors the flow of water through a whole home or office and checks it up to half a million times a day to detect problems like burst pipes, slow leaks or dripping taps. It's even smart enough to recognise individual appliances and provide a breakdown of how you use water at home, so you can save water, save money and save the planet, too.

Now, all we need is you: an extremely talented Embedded Developer, to help us bring Sonic to the world.

Job requirements


Your role

You will be responsible for software development on our embedded devices. Currently, we mainly work with 32-bit Silicon Labs and ESP processors. In our devices, we develop the proprietary HeroLink radio protocol, which you will work on - so having knowledge related to radio protocols will be a significant benefit. 

Our devices require an Internet connection, so knowledge of the communication layer and experience with IoT services such as AWS IoT Core / Azure IoT / Google Cloud IoT will be helpful. During product development, you will be involved in creating factory testing units and preparation for CE testing.

Although your primary responsibility when it comes to coding will be embedded development, you will need to collaborate with the rest of the team (backend/frontend/data-science) to bring new features to the software.

  • Very good knowledge of C / C ++ 
  • Experience working with 32-bit processors
  • Working experience with Linux
  • Familiarity with Make, CMake, Python
  • Knowledge of git, SQL, C++ unit tests
  • Familiarity with Docker will be helpful but is not essential

At this moment, we're working remotely, but we have offices in Lodz, Poland and London, England from which you can work once we're back to 'new normal'. We are based in Europe and we would like you to be close to Europe.
