Job summary
The Consumables Private Brands EU team is creating a global portfolio of consumables products and is looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced, and analytical Senior Quality Manager.

This position will focus on taking new products from the prototype stage to production manufacturing and scale up, through to the launch of the product. They will work directly with suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop and implement Amazon’s Quality program, develop and produce product packaging, run pilot and scale-up production tests, create and manage quality programs in conjunction with our food safety and product compliance teams, scale up manufacturing, and ensure a clean hand over to category management at launch.

This role requires expertise in consumer packaged goods manufacturing, a high bar for quality, strong customer obsession, and a track record of operating in a dynamic environment. They will also possess a proven ability to lead, influence and steer diverse cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will be comfortable with ambiguity, have strong attention to detail, and be motivated by a fast-paced start up environment, and the capacity to invent and simplify on different business oriented ways of operating.

This role can be based in London, Madrid or Munich.

The Senior Quality Manager will be responsible for:

  • Owning product quality from a customer perspective from concept to launch. Develop quality assurance programs, ensuring adherence to GMP, compliance, SRA and food safety audit and testing requirements, final production customer testing, and ongoing manufacturer quality programs.
  • Creating, maintaining and monitoring quality processes that allow manufacturers to meet our requirements around traceability and authenticity.
  • Working with chosen suppliers to ensure an optimized selection and further manufacturing process is in place, including all aspects of raw materials, packaging, authenticity, and required equipment.
  • Planning production runs including pilot and initial build runs
  • Driving supplier and CM manufacturing improvement, optimization and cost savings
  • Develop specification management system including final, technical product specifications (formula specs, packaging specs, BOMs, quality test plan and standards)
  • Developing feasible actions plan to address marketing objectives and response to customer feedback and expectations, and manage product issues (post launch).
  • Traveling as needed to meet with suppliers and service providers
  • Collaborating with other members of the Consumables team including Product Development, Sourcing Management, and Category Management to lead a successful scale up process for new product lines.
  • Development of audit process and tools to ensure supplier compliance to internal (Amazon) and external (Regulatory) standards and requirements
  • Establish, manage and monitor key performance metrics for suppliers, CMs, and customer feedback.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering, Package Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Quality Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in CPG manufacturing, operations, and product & supplier quality management systems
  • Experience in daily-use, high-repeat purchase product categories such as Grocery, Household, Personal Care, Beauty, Health & Wellness, and Baby Care
  • Experience with cGMP, HACCP, manufacturing methods, process and continuous improvement programs and procedures.
  • Experience creating, implementing and maintaining internal quality systems/document management systems, standards/SOPs for internal and external applications
  • Program management experience in new product introduction and successfully introduced new products to volume production
  • Direct responsibility for defining production process/supply chain and equipment requirements for new product manufacturing
  • Experience communicating and presenting to senior management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree

  • Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with key internal and external partners that have resulted in high customer satisfaction

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data

  • Outstanding writing, presentation and communication skills

  • The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization / time management and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to own projects, think big, act quickly, and influence across all levels of an organization

  • Curiosity to dig several layers deep into metrics, have an innate desire to understand key drivers and whether they are the correct or best metrics to measure / manage a business or process.

  • Diversified experience with entire product lifecycle and supply chain (R&D, scale-up, operations management, consumer feedback)

  • Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean manufacturing
