Operations Solutions, is a team of technical experts within the Operations vertical, with focus on solving challenges by providing solutions to automate processes and reduce manual workload, building tools that are both user and employee facing, and internalising as many capabilities as possible. 
 
The Operations Solutions team develops fast and scalable solutions using a mix of Python, SQL, VueJS, APIs, and 3rd party tools. The team needs to be rigorous, and act as the guardian of best practices within the Operations Team, as to ensure that Operations can always keep running smoothly. As Glovo branches out into new verticals, the Operations Solutions aims at being at the forefront of the next challenges, anticipating the upcoming needs by building solid processes and MVPs, future proofing Glovo Operations. 
This vertical aims at automating processes ranging from a simple bot, to complex processes adapting to the ongoing situation of a city’s operation (think of bots which control a city’s settings based on infinite list of external and internal parameters).
 
The role of the Operations Solutions Manager is the owner of all the automated processes that are running in Operations. This manager is also to act as the representative from Platform and Security in Operations. The hire for this role should have a special affinity with security, and a job well done. They need to have the curiosity of understanding what other teams are doing, and have the out of the box thinking to suggest improvements and to own their own solutions, to make Operations more automated, scalable and to improve overall metrics. They will act as the safeguard of best practices, while ensuring that their team and other operations teams are empowered and able to test and innovate in a speedy manner. The Operations Solutions Manager will act as the POC with the tech teams, and work with them on developing processes that should move to tech.

Be a part of a team where you will:

  • Hiring and managing a team
  • Being the safeguard of pipelines, security, instances within Ops and ensuring best practices are followed by all teams
  • Monitoring and alerting on problematic processes
  • Having full visibility on all the processes and automations that are running in the different Ops team
  • Providing bots, scripts, and more complex automations to ensure other teams in Operation can carry on with their daily tasks, while improving Operational metric
  • Be the point of contact with the Tech to hand over long term MVPs after they have been validated
  • Be the point of contact with Platform and Security, and ensuring all Operations team follow the required security procedures
  • Innovate and come up with ways to be better at rolling out experiments
  • Ensure the compliance of your scripts/bots/API as well as those of other Operations team
  • Support the IT and Security teams in implementing new security features within the Operations teams (ex: Migration of OneLogin)
  • Scale, upgrade all services used in order to ensure they always meet the growing demand
  • Ensure security, and GDPR compliance
  • Ensure monitoring of all the processes running, and being able to react in case of failure
  • Actively collaborate with your colleagues and learn from each other in a supportive environment that allows you to grow, develop and make a difference

You have:

  • 2 years experience in Python, SQL and REST
  • Experience in Platform with DataDog, AWS or other cloud platforms, Terraform, Jenkins is a must
  • You understand timeouts, API rate limits, server CPU limitations
  • Degree in Automation, Computer or Robotics Engineering
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a adaptability to change
  • Passion for reliability and best practices (software automation, clean code, static analysis)
  • Familiar with observability and monitoring
  • Familiar with basics of software security, such as authentication protocols, authorisation frameworks, identity and access management, etc..
  • Experience as a manager is highly desirable
  • An empathetic, inclusive and curious attitude
