Position title:  Lab Technician


Reporting to:  Lab Coordinator


Location:  Gurb, Spain 


Job Summary:

The Lab Technician conducts daily in-process quality control checking as well as the physical and chemical analysis of incoming/outgoing materials and finished goods samples. This role has either an emphasis on microbiological and analytical aspects. The incumbent organizes, updates, analyses and reports the results in both written and verbal form to the QA Lab Manager and other QA team members.

Accountabilities:

Carry out incoming goods, in-process and finished goods sampling in / out the premises for analysis. Inform and liaise with production on the quality status during the process control analysis. Prepare samples for microbiological, physic and chemical analysis. Assist in samples preparation of daily sensory evaluation. Calibrate and maintain laboratory analytical instruments when required. Maintain good house keeping to ensure good safety in the working area. Maintain and keep track on the physical and chemical inventories in the laboratory. Assist in other QA activities when necessary.


Key responsibilities include: 

- Comply with all department specific quality, safety, FSSC22000, and food safety policies and procedures.
- Address quality issue inquires and intern complaints and provider complaints.
- Perform sampling, collection, processing and shipment of lab samples.

- Collect and review production activities and records in accordance to company and customer quality management systems.

- Carry out in-process and finished goods and raw material sampling in / out the premises for analysis

- Calibrate and maintain laboratory analytical instruments when required.

- Maintain and keep track on the inventories in the laboratory

- Collect and verify standards and standard updates through SAP and production records

Education:

● Bachelor Degree Health sciences (ex. Food Technology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Microbiology) 

Work Experience:

● 2+ years of experience in physicochemical and microbiology laboratory.

● General knowledge of food technology. Good working knowledge of GMPs, Health and Safety regulations.

● Strong written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strengths and ability to work effectively with a team are required (computer software skills to include SAP, Google Apps, MS Office Suite)

● Excellent communication skills 
● Good interpersonal skills
● Ability to drive projects to completion

Additional Requirements:

● Experience in the field of food manufacturing;
● Team player
● Able to work under pressure with short delays
● Realized assets about changes and efficiency management
