The Role

To lead external contractors and partners supplying design and on-site commissioning services to Dematic. Team Lead is responsible for monitoring and mentoring suppliers to ensure project deliverables are achieved including safety, technical, quality, budget, and schedule aspects.

Team Lead will support activities to find and develop new suppliers and place requisitions to meet resource requirements.

To promote consistent standards and continuous improvement to ensure that suppliers are using defined Dematic processes and that expectation of output is clear.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide dashboard data detailing quality and on time deliverables for suppliers, with breakouts by company
  • Working with Engineering Managers and Team Leads to define tasks and external resource levels needed.
  • Delegation and tracking of tasks to deadlines.
  • Identification of specific challenges, training needs, risks and opportunities related to external suppliers
  • Development of supplier KPIs aligned to Dematic KPIs.
  • Create solutions and/or mitigate risks related to supplier issues
  • Ensuring utilization of team
  • Working with procurement to provide quarterly resource requirement forecast to suppliers,
  • Arranging short notice resource needs
  • Bench marking supplier cost and output, comparison with budget available
  • To ensure that the design process and standard practices are adhered to by engineers.
  • Closely collaborate with Team Leads and Managers across the regions working towards common goals
  • Reviewing, checking and approval of project related documentation. (i.e. drawings, calculations etc.)
  • To assist with the system design risk assessment process in line with statutory requirements.
  • Involvement in improvement activities to bring efficiency and quality benefits
  • To ensure that Lead Engineers meet project budgets, company expectations and deadlines, through regular review and mentoring
  • To liaise with Company product centers and key suppliers at a technical level to ensure full product understanding and correct application
  • To resolve design warranty issues and improve and implement changes to existing standards
  • Ensure a close working relationship with other regional Controls engineering teams and promote a positive approach to the transfer of information
  • Where necessary:

  • To actively participate in project work as would be completed by design engineers, including layouts, Software , documentation, on site activities and reviews.
  • General Responsibilities:

  • To participate in continuous process improvements
  • To assist the manager in forming future departmental strategies
  • The preparation of reports as requested by the Dematic
  • Motivate team members
  • Oversee day to day operation of team members including awareness of location/vacation/absence etc.
  • Escalate risk
  • What We Are Looking For

  • Essential: Certified technician, HNC/HND or equivalent in Controls Engineering
  • Desirable: Graduate with degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Desirable: Previous experience in a similar role
  • Desirable: knowledge of Dematic products and design tools
  • Essential: Experience of working with subcontract services
  • Essential: Experience of working across EU regions
