RF Signal Processing Engineer - Instrument Engineering en Madrid, Madrid, Spain

We’re looking for an engineer with a Signal Processing background to join the Europe based (Slough/Madrid) part of the growing Instrument Engineering team at Apple. This small team of world-class engineers designs and produces precision RF and Analog Test Equipment for use in calibrating and testing the Cellular, WiFi/BT and NFC radios in millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs and Watches. All members of the team bring their own unique expertise to collectively take internal Apple products from concept to mass production. Each internal product is designed to exacting standards resulting in test equipment that maintains the quality, accuracy and function of commercially available offerings. You will already have a hardworking track record of success and innovation in at least one of the following fields: Signal processing; Algorithms design for communication systems; and System Architecture. Key Qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of RF fundamentals and communications theory;
  • Recent experience with current or upcoming wireless standards (e.g. LTE, 5G, mmWave, WiFi, Bluetooth);
  • Knowledge of digital frequency and timing recovery, channel estimation and compensation, phase tracking, MIMO processing, beam forming, detection and demodulation algorithms;
  • Knowledge of techniques used to ensure signal quality of single-carrier and multi-carrier signals;
  • Knowledge of design using RF and Analog discrete components;
  • Hands-on and programming experience with RF lab equipment: power sensors, spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, switch controllers, wideband radio communication testers;
  • Proficient programming in one or more of Python, C/C++, Matlab;
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts & scalable software design;
  • Energy and drive to thrive in a start-up like environment.
Description
He/she will develop and optimize precision test equipment used by RF automation systems to test Apple’s newest products including iPhone, iPad, Mac and others for different wireless technologies. He/she will contribute to multi-facetted software based on Python and C++. He/she will work with analog signals in RF and baseband and with digitized samples to provide accurate and repeatable measurements. Furthermore, he/she will analyze results in conjunction with RF Hardware and RF System Engineering teams to identify and root cause issues. Position will require some international travel.
Education & Experience
Degree in EE or similar discipline with 3-5 years experience
