COMPETITION POLICY JR. en Madrid

In TELEFONICA SA (corporate centre of the Group), we are looking for  a junior or recently qualified competition Counsel or economist to learn and grow within our experienced and innovative fast-paced corporate team. Based in Madrid, you will be involved in shaping the legal and deregulatory framework in the connectivity and telco markets. One of the most competitive and regulated market in Europe, Brazil an Latam. Telefonica has long been a strong advocate of a level playing field between telecoms companies and big internet platforms.  You will have the opportunity to contribute to our public policy positions on this politically relevant topic.  This role is indeed a pivotal part of our Public Policy and regulatory team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Help in the review, evaluation, edit and draft proposal of European, State and local legislation in the various geographies where Telefonica operates.

• Assist in identifying legislative trends, developing strategies and policy documents to further Telefonica interests in the field of competition Law.

• Identify, track, and advise on introduced and proposed legislation.

• Collaborate in industry associations and with Telefonica Public Policy team members on market-specific legislative efforts.

EDUCATION:

• Masters degree in Competition Law required

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• Interest in public policy and shaping the public agenda.

• Willingness to travel internationally when required.

• Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment self-starter; intrinsically motivated

• Experience with law, economic or public affairs consultancy practice, legislation drafting or lobbying, a plus but not required

LANGUAGES:

• Near bilingual written and spoken English skills. German, French or Portuguese, a plus.
