As a Data Science Chapter Lead you “lead” by example, share your best practices openly and coach your colleagues in a spontaneous way, and your day-to-day job would consist of data exploitation. 

As a Chapter Lead, you will take 40% of your time for the following responsibilities:

To manage, coach, inspire, develop, evaluate and assess employees
To keep expertise related to the work field up to date and to develop the analytical craftsmanship
Oversee the analytical work of the other members of the team, you will be the data science expert.
To propose training/courses, professional literature
To play a role model to generate curiosity of your team towards other domains of expertise

During the remaining 60% of your time, you will work active as a Data Scientist, with the following responsibilities:
  
Build/improve predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
Design, analyse and interpret business hypothesis and explore datasets through using available tools.
Recommend ideas to business when data/results is available through good visualizations / predictive algorithms.
Assist users to understand the data science principles and when needed provide an explanation for the model behaviour and possible correcting actions.
To automate and standardize recurrent machine learning activities to enable efficiency gains
To provide end-to-end data / analytical support for the stakeholders’ actions

Do you recognize yourself in this profile:

MSc or PhD with excellent academic results in a technical field (Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics, Artificial Intelligence, etc.), but this can be substituted with excellent capabilities.
Knowledge of the latest developments in the analytics community (methods and tools) combined with the ability to decide which of these are most relevant to ING and translate them into opportunities. You have an in-depth understanding of algorithms like Random Forests, Neural Networks, MCMC, reinforcement learning and NLP.
Strong programming skills in Python and Spark are a must. 
You are experienced in explaining complicated analysis to a non-technical audience with your storytelling and data visualization skills.
You have excellent oral and written communication skills at technical and business level.
We consider 3+ years of work experience in the Data Science field a strong plus.
Fluent in written and spoken English.

You have experience in building data products. From inception to production. With your full-stack capabilities, you can build a prototype, but also improve an issue within the existing models in production. You love coding.
You feel at home in a high-performing team and you make the other team members feel at home as well. You have the independence to speak up when needed.  
You have exceptional problem-solving capabilities. You understand that understanding the problem is at least 90% of the solution. You have displayed creativity and tenacity in cracking the problem and finding a solution to it.
