Site Reliability Engineer en Madrid

Descripción del empleo

This is Us.

A team of more than one thousand people sharing an idea: doing our bit in helping our clients create a better future for themselves, providing them with the tools they need to get where they want to go.

In today’s world, we know this happens because we are a fully online bank. We were born out of that idea and 20 years on, technology, simplicity and transparency continue to be the ingredients of the recipe that leaves the best taste in our mouths: being more than just a bank, someone useful in the lives of the millions of clients who have chosen us.

The way we do things also mirrors our eagerness to innovate. We are proud to be one of the very first banks to work with agile methodologies. It doesn’t ring a bell yet? No worries, we will be delighted to tell you all about it. You will find it’s one of those things you’ll want to repeat over and over.

And although we are based in Spain, we like to cross borders. We are lucky to work with international teams every day across 44 countries, composed of women and men as equal as they are diverse. Because here you are completely free to be who you want to be, love whomever you choose, and even go for pineapple as your pizza topping.

Making things happen, helping others be successful, always being one step ahead—that’s our DNA. If you look at yourself in the mirror and your reflection matches our way of being and working…we are looking forward to meeting you!

What are we looking for?

Your role and work environment

ING’s ambition is to be the number one digital banking brand in Europe, offering customers everywhere the same empowering, personalized and differentiating experience. A collaborative, communicative Site Reliability Engineer will change the way we’re working.

You will be working in a customer centric company where bank applications are essential. For that reason, we want to guarantee the total availability of them, building a new team pioneer in Spain under the SRE philosophy where you will be an important team member involved in the most important digital banking transformation.

Your key responsibilities:

What You'll Be Doing as a Site Reliability Engineer:

  • Participate in SRE software engineering, writing code for the continuing reduction of human intervention in operational tasks and automation of processes.
  • Identify and evaluate the developments that may compromise the capacity of the systems, not advancing with changes in the code that may add unnecessary complexity.
  • Development of error-tolerant systems through the automation of resolutions, ensuring the availability of the bank's services and applications (accessibility, prevention and security).
  • Monitor the ING infrastructure, responding to incidents, correcting and improving systems to prevent incidents and planning capacity.
  • Help maintain and improve our monitoring and automated issue resolution system.
  • Participate in post-mortems, monitor and communicate stats on system reliability.

Proven track record and technical skills:

  • We value pragmatism, accountability, early feedback and helping others. We write and support our own production code. This means that DevOps is a real thing for us. In short: we are team players.
  • Solid knowledge in Linux/UN*X, system monitoring, Infrastructure-as-a-Service and configuration management.
  • Relentless desire to automate and build tools to achieve it. We use Python/Go for scripting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems using high- and low-level debugging tools and techniques throughout all our stack.
  • Familiarity with "infrastructure-as-code" tools: eg. Ansible and Terraform.
  • A passion for security, observability and monitoring.
  • Working knowledge in Java or willing to learn it.
  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Familiarity with Distributed Systems programming.
  • Experience in any of these technologies: NGINX, ELK, Prometheus.
  • You have monitored and tuned the Java Virtual Machine to ensure apps run smoothly.
