HP is building a new team within the Infrastructure Services (IS) organization. Overall, the IS organization is responsible for the overall function of HP's internal network, the delivery of critical and non-critical network services and the determination of what future technologies get implemented. This new team is dedicated to the operational stability of the environment and will include several high-performing network operations engineers, each dedicated to a region of the world.

The Regional Network Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the maximum possible availability and performance for HP's internal network and network-based services. We are looking for individuals with the aptitude and demonstrable skills needed to fulfill the requirements of this role, whilst experienced members of the team will help develop your skills and confidence.

The Network Operations team is a cross-functional group that interacts with HP's service providers, delivery teams, engineering and architecture groups, as well as IT / Business leadership so excellent communication skills are a must. In addition, the ability to convey technical information and ideas to people from non-technical backgrounds is important.


Operations Engineers will participate in "Major Incident" conference calls, help drive issues to resolution, work with support providers on root cause analysis and brief other teams and leadership on status and results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure stable and reliable network services.
  • Day-to-day network performance monitoring.
  • Network troubleshooting and fault analysis, both within MI calls and outside.
  • Trouble ticket generation and response; carrier interface and escalations.
  • Usage of network monitoring, analysis, and reporting tools; identify gaps and recommend solutions.
  • Drive carrier resolution if incidents and track root cause analysis
  • Report on status to leadership

Candidate Profile

  • Experience troubleshooting network services and large, enterprise network environments.
  • Intermediate understanding of core networking technologies, including, but not limited to, TCP/IP, ICMP, routing, DHCP, DNS, and subnetting
  • Basic understanding of security technologies, such as firewalls, IPS devices, access control lists, firewall policies, etc.
  • Awareness of authentication services, like TACACS, RADIUS and AAA platforms
  • Experience with Juniper, Aruba, ProCurve and H3C network hardware are relevant.
  • Familiar with working in a data center environment.
  • Able to analyze problems and conduct effective issue diagnosis and recommend systematic steps toward recovery.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes, especially Problem Management
  • Clear communicator (written and verbal).
  • Capable of prioritizing and managing own workload.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Capable of working/using own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Keen to contribute ideas, share knowledge and help others develop.
