AREA DESCRIPTION:

In the last years, many telcos have been doing great network virtualization efforts. These efforts will not only bring the flexibility, scalability and cost reduction needed to meet the exponential traffic growth but will also transform our network into a distributed telco cloud. Telefonica, as one of the leaders of this transformation is now looking for the services and business models that will evolve from this new paradigm. 

MISSION:

Telefonica, as one of the leaders of this transformation is now looking for the use cases that will fill our distributed telco cloud with great solutions to our clients. To help Telefonica to walk this path we are looking to hire a Senior Software Developer for building Telco Cloud Services (IT and Networking).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The person will be responsible for building distributed cloud computing / Infrastructure as a service solution using cutting-edge open source technologies.
• He will be responsible for exploring and building Prototypes to enable new revenue-generating use cases on top of 5G with SDN and Virtualization.
• He will develop Next gen frameworks and solutions (Controllers, orchestrators, monitoring systems etc) for areas such as Edge Computing, IOT, AI/ML AR/ VR, 5G, SDN, and NFV by using open source software.

EDUCATION:

• MSc/BSc degree in Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, Math, related technical field or equivalent practical experience

EXPERIENCE:

Key Qualifications

• 2-4 years direct, hands-on experience building large scale web or cloud architectures with significant depth around design, implementation.
• Software development background, including Open Source frameworks.
• Versed in Agile methodologies (SCRUM, etc.)
• Minimum 2 years of Software and IP Networking experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience with OpenStack, AWS, Google Cloud, or VMWare ESXi 
• At least 2 years of experience with Linux

Seen As Advantage

• Minimum 2 years of experience in coding and handling services through Docker
• Have coded extensively in Python; 
• Experience in multiple configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, Puppet or Terraform.
• Knowledge of L2/L3 Networking.
• Deep understanding of ETSI NFV architecture and the main telco use cases (vCPE, vEPC, vCDN, vIMS, vRAN, etc.)
• Experience with Network Function Virtualisation/Software Defined Networking (NFV/SDN)
• Experience/knowledge of MANO tools, preferable OSM
• Experience with open source networking projects (ONAP, CORD, ONOS, OpenDaylight, P4)
