As a C and C++ developer, you will lead the development and integration of the SW that will be built for a new family of products, delivering the world’s most advanced and intuitive smart alarm product suite.

This new range of products will be built on top of Android’s open source stack. A number of new technologies are being considered for this range of products, including voice recognition and advanced (and proprietary) communication protocols. Throughout the product development cycle you will partner with HW designers, SW engineers (internal and external), testers and designers to deliver to deliver an experience that our users will love.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced developer using both C and C++ especially on Linux systems and Android, with a passion for advanced user interfaces with a working knowledge of what is required to ship consumer electronic products built around Android.

Main Responsibilities

• Be in charge of development SDK, tools and libraries
• Design and develop solutions for integration of low level components in the system, from C drivers to C++ daemons
• Review and create system level requirements. Optimize performance, memory and power of resulting product to provide best possible experience to the user
• Create integration plans that ensure high quality, on time delivery of software release. Partner with HW and quality teams to deliver on these plans.
• Create tools to upgrade SW in the field, and monitor performance of these products in the field to assess need for new SW releases.
• Create tools for HW stress and functional testing of the devices
• Participate in technical decisions discussions and trade off and deliver technical solution design (HW and SW).

Management KPIs

• Product Quality: customer satisfaction with product/product usage, traditional alarm product KPIs (supervision failure), ad-hoc product performance (voice recognition).
• Development/delivery quality: Number of bugs after launch.
• Delivery on time and budget.

Other relevant information

Direct report to R&D Engineering Director in Madrid. Part of the engineering organization led by Chief Product & Services Officer.

Lead project team typically comprising following capabilities: System Engineer (SW platform), Project manager, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial design, User Experience experts, Testers and Factory engineers.

This role is based in Madrid with some European, Asia and US travel required.

Requirements:

• 1+ years’ experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Android SDK, C++ libraries and daemons
  • Performance optimization of embedded systems
  • Creation of SW development and test plans
  • Familiar with Linux kernel development
  • Familiar with voice recognition systems
  • Familiar with embedded camera development
  • Familiar with communication protocols
• Experience managing and writing embedded software for Android based products
• Ability to understand and read HW schematics
• Lead the debug of technical issues at interface of HW and SW
• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
• Fluency in English.

Secondary requirements:

• Passionate about the development of new products and services
• Experience in Android tablet or handset industry
• Proven ability to create collaborative relationships with stakeholders and peers in a matrix organisation and be recognised as a value-added partner and resource, working in multicultural teams.
