Sustainable Towns is the company behind the development of La Pinada. La Pinada is the first Spanish eco-district designed together with their future residents. It is being built around the Image Montessori school and based on the principles of Sustainability, Education, and Innovation.

Internship description

The intern will help with the development of the Living as a Service Model and help with business models exploration. The intern will be asked to help with research tasks and further study of business models that are aligned with our values and have been applied somewhere else. After the models have been scanned, we will, together with experts, study the models and explore how they can be applied to La Pinada future residents and potentially other clients around the area. The scope of the project is international and the study will explore sustainable districts and urban developments mainly in Europe and North America.

• La Pinada has recruited a multidisciplinary team of more than 20 professionals to work towards the creation of a 'forward looking' urban development that hopefully will be an example to other developments in the world. The aim of the project is to have a triple bottom line: economic, social and environmental.
• La Pinada wants to include in its overall business model "Living as a Service" models that are based on lower consumption, improving the experience and available services, and employing people at risk of exclusion. That is, not only selling/renting homes but also providing all the services that the neighbourhood will need (mobility, energy, leisure, and other services). In this framework, La Pinada became part of the Climate KIC to be inspired and empowered in building a zero-carbon economy and climate resilient society. La Pinada and Climate-KIC are collaborating in 2018 on to study and develop business models based on circular economy principles to transform district opportunities into viable businesses that deliver on the La Pinada district community's needs.
