Senior Software Engineer, Testing - Opportunity for Working Remotely en Seville

VMware is looking for a Software Engineer focused on testing initiatives interested in joining the VMware Marketplace R&D team, part of the Modern Applications Platform group. The team is primarily focused on testing new Cloud Native applications for Tanzu Application Catalog: developing automated internal frameworks, building monitor systems and improving testing effectiveness.

Test Engineers at Tanzu Application Catalog are not manual testers, you will work implementing new scenarios to automate testing and developing or improving testing tools for developers. The position involves implementing test strategies for containers and Kubernetes deployments, identifying weak configurations and potential problems. 

The job also expects you to coach other members of the team, proactively identify issues and continuously improve the development processes. You’ll be part of a bright engineering team that has an open communication, empowerment, innovation, teamwork and customer success culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, modify and execute test plans and tests for containers and Kubernetes deployments to improve software quality processes and methodologies. Provide technical leadership for the automated tests for all the Kubernetes solutions we offer to customers and Open Source users. 

• Work with the Tanzu Application Catalog customers and the Open Source Catalog users to cover the specific configurations. This involves participating and responding to bug reports from the customers and users.

• Work directly with engineering teams for different areas of VMware Tanzu portfolio.

• Be actively involved in team-wide discussions about testing best practices. 

• Be a technical expert that coaches and trains junior members of the engineering team.

• Identify issues, resolve bugs and write high-quality engineering documentation.

• Keep the team unblocked by performing timely and useful code reviews.

• Take responsibility for continuous improvements in the coding and development of your own coding practices as well as of your team’s practices.

Requirements

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred; demonstrable understanding of systems, algorithms, and OO design required.

• 8+ years of industry experience.

• Proficient knowledge of a back-end programming language (i.e. Go, NodeJS, Python, etc.) and code versioning tools.

• Experience with web testing technologies (i.e. Pupeteer, Cypress, Selenium, etc)

• Exposure to container and Kubernetes technology, container-focused Linux distributions, and virtualization in the cloud.

• Design and develop tests using industry standards tools.

• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English).

• Strong familiarity with Agile development.
