Job Description

A permanent position for a Mechanical Systems Integration & Design Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe in Mechanical System Installation team.

The successful candidate will join the Mechanical System Installation department at the Combat Area and will be integrated into a multidisciplinary team, mainly dedicated to the management and integration of New Generation Fighter (NGFD) in the mechanical systems as well as other military platforms (Eurofighter, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)...).

The Mechanical System Installation team stands for Quality & Improvement related to Fuel, Hydraulic, Environmental Control System, Equipment integration on aircraft among others.

It is a dynamic area, leading digital product innovation and LEAN Design, team working with an AGILE mindset, adding value within Mechanical systems requirements integration and trouble shooting issues in production and in service.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

The main activities of a Mechanical System integration & Design Engineer are related with delivering technical solutions in support of building, test and delivery aircraft:

· Mechanical Systems definition from System Architecture

· Mechanical Components Specification for purchasing

· Mechanical Parts Documentation for Manufacturing

· Mechanical Systems Installation Documentation for assembling

· Interfacing with external partners and suppliers and communicating with corresponding stakeholders in design reviews, test report and Project follow-up meetings.

Associated competencies to main activities are:

· Systems requirement challenging

· Criteria for systems segregation

· Definition of systems component position

· Components selection, specification and practical application

· Selection of Manufacturing Technologies

· Assembly and Maintainability instructions

· Production and Service Support concurring

· Documents review & edition

· KPI Generation, Documentation Plan & Status Report

· Design Manual and Design Principles contributing

· Design & Product improvement activities

· Support cross-program configuration control and cross-functional procedures


REQUIRED PROFILE

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience as Engineer / Designer on Fluid Systems Installations (hydraulic, fuel, pneumatics, etc) and Equipment installations (sensor & antennas, lights and cameras, cockpit installations, etc.)
  • Deep Knowledge and experience in CATIA and PDM/PLM Tools, as well as the usual back office tools (Office...)
  • Abilities to accept Design delegation
  • Deep Knowledge of aircraft systems & structures design
  • Knowledge and/or experience in work linked to Aeronautical military projects.
  • Fluent in Writing and Spoken English (B2 level or higher)
